Privacy Policy

Last updated September 26, 2026

AcrossTown is built so that your property research stays on your computer. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit this website or subscribe, and what the AcrossTown app does and does not send to us.

1. Information we collect

  • Account and billing: When you subscribe, we collect your name, email address, and the payment details needed to bill you. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we don’t store full card numbers.
  • Website analytics: We may collect non-identifying information such as browser type, device, and pages visited to improve this website.

2. What stays on your computer

Property reports, listing photos, disclosure documents, notes, and tool results are saved in a folder on your computer. We don’t receive copies of them. In particular:
  • Local model analysis runs through Ollama on your own machine.
  • Property bundles you export are files you control and share however you choose.

3. AI research

Nothing is sent to an AI service until you ask a question in Ask AcrossTown or copy a prompt yourself. When you do, the text and any attachments you choose are sent in one of two ways, which you pick in Settings.
  • With your own AI account: The app opens Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT in a Chrome window where you’ve signed in and sends your message there. That provider’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
  • With AI credits: The selected property and document text and the conversation are sent through AcrossTown’s servers to our AI gateway (OpenRouter), which passes them to the model providers you pick, such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, or xAI. We keep the models’ answers, with a short excerpt of your latest question as its title, on our servers for 30 days so a dropped connection doesn’t lose or double-charge a question, then delete them. The property and document text you send is not stored. We keep a record of the tokens and cost of each request to charge your AI credits. Answers are also saved with the property on your computer.

4. Sending answers to WhatsApp, Telegram, or Slack

When you link a phone number, Telegram chat, or Slack channel, we store its address encrypted and show only the last few digits back to you. Answers you send are delivered through WhatsApp (Meta), Telegram, or Slack, whose own terms and privacy policies apply. In a linked Slack channel, AcrossTown reads the address’s thread and its text files only when someone @mentions it there, so it can answer the follow-up question.

5. Team plans

With team sync turned on, the property folders on your computer are kept the same as your teammates’. Files travel directly between your computers over an encrypted connection; AcrossTown’s servers only help the computers find each other and never receive the files. Your shortlist, saved searches, and settings are not synced.

6. Third-party sites

The app opens public listing sites and public records (such as city open-data portals) in a browser on your computer to collect information you ask for. Those sites’ own terms and privacy policies apply to that access.

7. How we use information

  • To provide, bill, and support your subscription.
  • To improve AcrossTown and this website.
  • To send product updates, which you can opt out of at any time.
